Performance Enhancement

Performance can be improved using hypnosis, according to a ton of published evidence. How well people do in competitions depends of course on their physical and mental state – both of which hypnosis can affect through the powerful mind/body connection. Psychologically, an average runner would find that they could move amazingly fast if they were chased by a bull. A golfer playing their best can still be influenced negatively if they are disrupted by an audience. Hypnosis can increase or decrease the brain’s state of arousal to an appropriate level for the current event. We often underestimate our real potential, and another approach is to use hypnosis to allow your best performance to break through any self-imposed psychological limitations. One hypnotherapist progressed a shot-putter’s throw considerably by gradually extending his own psychological ‘limit’- which had been inhibiting the sportsman's performance. Another method is to create a blueprint of the perfect performance within the subconscious mind, including the exact muscle movements, the correct mental and physiological states, and refining and improving the learning's with more hypnosis sessions and more practice.

In competitions, just having that edge over others is so important. A competitor who is not psychologically ready for a race can waste energy in panicky thoughts, hyperventilation, and palpitations before events. As One American researcher found that placebo enhancement pills worked as well as actual stimulant drugs for athletes. To reach a winning performance, many aspects of the athlete need to operate at the absolute optimal level. However, different sports have different physical and mental requirements: in the case of sprinters, a short burst of maximum muscle performance and mental arousal; for archers, a focusing on physical and mental calmness and smoothness, combined with enhanced visual attention; for marathon runners, a sense of resolute determination and physical drive. Cues are often used to anchor the hypnotically prepared performer. As soon as the golfer grabs the club, or when a runner steps onto the starting blocks. These act as "triggers."

Are you a competitor? Apart from the physical training and advice you are having, you can benefit from the recruitment of your conscious and unconscious minds, through hypnosis! 530-828-0880
